Sasha is a writer, television producer, filmmaker, and editor whose writing on death, history, travel and ritual through a scientific lens have appeared in New York Magazine, O. the Oprah Magazine and elsewhere. She recently released her first book, For Small Creatures Such As We. Our conversation elaborates on the ambiguous space of finding ritual and meaning within a scientific world view. We discuss the limitations of theistic language, how understanding something scientifically doesn’t always have to remove awe and wonder, how our post-agricultural lifestyle separates us from a deep connection with nature and biology, the importance of discussing these issues in a respectful, humble and nuanced way and so much more.
